With over 30 years of global leadership experience, Mike's career has evolved from operational roles in the oil and gas sector across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America to entrepreneurial ventures and strategic leadership and board roles across multiple industries. His expertise spans energy, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and governance, consistently building and leading high-performing teams that drive resilience, sustainable growth, and long-term value creation.

As the Founder & CEO of Protekz Inc., Mike guides organizations in integrating sustainable practices, embracing transformational leadership, and navigating the energy transition with confidence. His strategic advisory has contributed to over $3 billion in value creation through initiatives in strategic innovation, growth and exit strategies, and enterprise risk management.

In his role as Chair of a TEC Canada CEO Peer Group, Mike supports growth-minded executives in strategic decision-making, personal mastery, and innovation—fostering measurable growth and leadership agility.

Mike's industry exposure includes energy, manufacturing, education and healthcare across both profit and non-profit sectors. He is a trusted advisor to startups and scale-ups, mentoring purpose-driven entrepreneurs in strategic growth, governance, and long-term value creation.

His extensive global board experience includes service with organizations such as SPE International, ALS Society of Canada, and Alberta Dreams. Mike actively contributes to board committees, including Risk & ESG, Governance & Nominations, Finance & Audit, and Business & Leadership, ensuring strategic oversight and impact. His governance expertise is reinforced by Sloan executive education from London Business School, ESG & Climate designations from Competent Boards, and Innovation Governance certification from the Council of Canadian Innovators. Mike has also completed the iPEC Coaching fundamentals certification.

As the 2025–26 SPE Distinguished Lecturer, Mike is honoured to share insights on "Transformational Leadership to Accelerate the Energy Transition," shaping the future of sustainable energy. In academia, he serves as a business professor at SAIT and an entrepreneurship advisor and mentor at the Haskayne School of Business, helping develop the next generation of business leaders.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ibadan (Nigeria), a Master's in Petroleum Engineering from IFP School (France), an MBA with Distinction from Warwick Business School (UK), and a Sloan MSc in Leadership and Strategy from London Business School (UK). His academic journey is further enriched by executive education programs at Oxford Saïd and Harvard Business Schools, focusing on advanced leadership, sustainability, and strategic innovation.
